Scientific Research Study:

Proving Medical QiGong is an Effective Therapy for Lower Back Pain

Learn more about the
Ongoing Study:

  • The concept for the study developed because Lower Back Pain is such a prevalent and debilitating problem for so many people in our society, estimated at 60-70% of the population in the United States. Vast amounts of money has been spent on research and treatment that has not yielded a cure.

  • Dr. Xiu-Min Li of New York Medical College holds dual professorships in the Departments of Microbiology and Immunology and Department of Otolaryngology. Her research focuses on integrating Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with western science and technology.

Dr. Li heard about the tremendous success that Master Hou has had with treating a variety of disorders. Intrigued, Dr. Li decided to investigate and learn more.

After interviewing over thirty of Master Hou’s patients and hearing first -hand of the positive results, Dr. Li felt strongly that the medical community needed to learn about Master Hou’s QiGong therapy and how it works.

  • QiGong Therapy is a natural, non-invasive, and low-cost method of healing low back pain using qi energy and pressure points found throughout the body.  In the study, reduction in pain and inflammation will be analyzed using biomarkers and patient response.

  • It is expected that positive results from this study will have many benefits. First, the research lead to a greater understanding of traditional healing in the medical community and further research. Successful QiGong Therapy research will provide greater access to this treatment for patients in the future.

By providing scientific evidence, QiGong will be recognized as a modality that will lead to a practitioner credentialing process and acceptance of QiGong treatment by insurance carriers. Ultimately, it is hoped that we will see trained and qualified QiGong therapists available to treat patients world-wide.

  • QiGong as a method of healing and health maintenance is recognized to be over 4,000 years old. Over the millennia and now, thousands of people have practiced and continue to improve health using this natural method that does not require any material objects to effect a profound improvement in health.

In our busy modern world that often seeks quick-fixes such as drugs or surgery, which have side -effects, research is needed to assist the medical community in accepting and understanding the effectiveness of this ancient method of healing. Investment in high-quality research has the potential to usher in acceptance by insurance companies to pay for patients treatments and the growth of training centers that can produce professional practitioners.

Master Hou, as a traditionally trained master, is personally invested in contributing to research and the body of scientific knowledge that supports QiGong as a clinically-proven treatment modality. He believes that QiGong stands on its own as an effective method but can also work in conjunction with Western Medicine, bringing relief to a greater number of individuals. In addition, Master Hou hopes that research can lead to producing qualified practitioners who will work in developing countries where people often cannot access expensive medicines. Truly, Qi or Universal energy is a gift for all of us that can be shared to help heal others. Neither money nor material goods are needed; only willing hands, a willing mind, and the knowledge of the natural healing power of Nature.

Over the years, Master Hou has participated in research using Qi Gong as a treatment for HIV/AIDS, Fibromyalgia, and Osteoarthritis of the Knee. Presently Master Hou is poised to start clinical trials on QiGong as a treatment for Lower Back Pain in conjunction with New York College of Medicine. Much of the funding is secured, but donations or grant opportunities are still needed to meet the rest of the costs for this important undertaking.
